Health Update

So after the SET Tournament I came down sick with a bad cold that turned quickly into a bacterial sinus infection. After several meds I finally turned a corner but never got back to 100%. I went back to the doctor yesterday to find out that I’m dealing with bronchitis. She has me on a new med regimen that we are praying works in short order because we have a tournament this weekend as well as US Open just around the corner.

Today T woke with a stuffy nose so we are hitting him with everything we can to boost his immune system so he bounces back quickly. He’s been blowing his nose a lot today. Nothing else seems to be bothering him other than his sinuses though. We are praying he bounces back quickly because we have Grand Master Cann’s Wake to go on Friday then we have to head to GA for a tournament. Be praying for him to be feeling better quickly.

We are figuring he picked up something from his regular TKD class last night because I’m not contagious. He did leadership with the little kids and he said they were all coughing and sneezing. Regardless we deal with things as they come and move forward because there’s no time for letting junk keep us down.

Here’s a couple of picks of T stretching on Monday.

RIP Grand Master Missy Cann

Last year at USAT GA State Championships Timothy had the privilege of meeting and being coached by Grand Master Cann. Immediately Timothy connected with her like we’d known her for years. She and I hit it off as if we’d known one another all our lives. Grand Master Cann and I exchanged phone numbers and from that moment forward she and I had many many phone conversations. She was after what was best for our sons future in TaeKwonDo Sparring from the first moment of meeting her. Such an honorable woman in every area of her life. Such a great example to our son. Those many phone conversations resulted in our being invited to come and train one Saturday with her kids and Coaches. She and I sat on the sidelines together watching as my son fit into the Carolina Kicks Family from the first moment. He and the team connected instantly. The love Timothy feels for his Carolina Kicks team family is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. What’s more is God orchestrated it all. He opened the doors for the opportunity for Timothy to be on this Sparring Team. Timothy was supposed to be coached by someone else at USAT GA last year but was coached by GMaster Cann. Timothy’s embraced being on this sparring team and grown by leaps and bounds as a competitor since being with them. Timothy was one of her last recruits and although we knew her such a short time in comparison to so many others Timothy and I felt such a deep love and respect for this great woman. Although she is gone she will never be forgotten!!!  Her legacy will live on in the lives of all those she touched. RIP GMaster Cann!  We will always remember and never forget!!!

Warm Up

T is getting warmed up for his full day of training. Two private sessions and his team training session. His coach has been talking to him a lot about what he needs from him. He’s getting more understanding so that he can be a better fighter. He’s taking in a lot right now. And there’s a lot of correcting of bad habits happening right now but everyday there is improvement. He’s not the same fighter at all that he was last year this time. He is night and day different and his coach still wants more for him. #alwaysimproving #nodaysoff #alwaysmovingforward

Pictures from Training Earlier Today

T is having a really good week of training. The trick is to get him to use what he’s learning on his teammates when they spar. He’s getting the moves down but now he needs to get them down on an opponent. He will get there. Lots of new stuff being thrown at him rather quickly. It will become second nature to him soon enough though as he does it more and more.
