Believe In Yourself....

I thought of our son when I read this quote. He has had so many challenges in his life. Challenges that would cause many such a setback that they never recover from it. He had three things going for him though: A mother(1) & father(2) who cared enough to see him succeed to be involved in his life keeping him going in the right direction and protecting him as well as a God(3) who protected, directed & guided him when we weren't able to do so. Families who stay together and know how much they mean to one another are the families that are successful in life and all other endeavors as well. Those families can set themselves and other generations up for generational wealth as long as they don't live lives that are the status quo of all that you see in the world today.

Example: I was thrusted out into the world at 18/19 years of age to make it on my own. It's what most parents tend to do. They tell their kids get an education (which they pay on for most of the rest of their lives), get a job (that they are tied down to because they have so much debt they owe), buy your own car (on credit - and basically pay double for it), buy your own house (which leads to even more debt to be paid). When instead they should do all they can to minimize the debt by making it so that they can stay either at home or put another home on land the family already owns which also minimizes debt. They all chip in to pay for it all and they keep generational wealth going because then their debts get paid off quicker. But they also prioritize their family above everything with the exception of God who comes first and foremost above everything. Buying enough land as a family that you can put multiple homes on and having basically a family compound may sound controlling to the rest of the world but it's not when done right.

Faith, Family & generational success is what it is all about at the end of the day. As parents we should do all that we can to make sure that our kids have an inheritance that will last for generations of family members down the line. It's what families did back in the olden days. It's how they not only survived but thrived in life. It worked then and it will work now provided that your family all wants the same thing. But honestly, who doesn't want to be set up for success for the rest of their lives and not have to struggle all of their lives. I'd bet it's fair to say most would jump at a chance to have success with a tight knit family rather than struggle all of their lives just to pay all their bills and their debts. It's how the rich and famous continue to get richer. They know how to stick together and make even more gains. Just saying.

A Quote From A Friend...

A friend posted this on their social media page and it was worthy of sharing.  It's worthy of everyone hearing too.  It should be shouted from the roof tops for everyone that have it in their hearts to take lives.

Missionary Speaker Quotes shared at Cross Assembly Yesterday...

There was a guest speaker yesterday at church.  He spoke on John 15:9-17 about being a friend of God by being loyal to Jesus; standing with Jesus, weeping with Jesus, and stewarding His trust.  It was such a great sermon.  Here are some slides that he shared.

I know many in our neck of the woods are more Baptist in faith than Pentecostal in faith.  Azuza Street was a Pentecostal meeting where God showed up in a huge way.  Lots don't understand Azuza Street.  In their not understanding they tend to spout opinions in order to sway folks to unbelief of what happened there.

Here's my take on it.  It's not mine to understand the movings of God and His showing up in different ways for different groups of people.  What I do know is it's mine to believe that God can do anything at anytime with anyone who believes.  It's our lack of belief that holds us back at times.  When we open our hearts and eyes to allow Holy Ghost to show us how mightily God moves and has moved in the past we open ourselves up to a deeper belief than we could ever possibly imagine.

So, you will never see me saying that what happened at Azuza Street wasn't God even though I've heard many non-Pentecostals spout that kind of talk.  What you will hear from me is to take the time to read and study about all that happened at Azuza Street for yourselves.  Really open your mind and heart to understanding all that happened there.  Let Holy Ghost be your guide as you read and study as to what is true or not.  If he does with you what he did with me then your heart and life with be touched with all that God did there.  And yes, I do believe that God showed up there in a mighty way because the people believed and were expectant for a move of God like they had never seen or known before.  Oh what a different, much better, world we would have today if all God's people were seeking Him as they did then.  Just saying.

Now, in the slides you saw above there was a David Livingstone quote.  He was a pioneer missionary to Africa from the prominent 18th century Moffat missionary family. He became one of most popular British heroes of the late 19th century Victorian era.  He was also an explorer of the region.  His disappearance and eventual death in Africa led to the founding of several major Central African Christian missionary initiatives carried forward in the era of the European “Scramble for Africa” during which almost all of Africa fell under European rule for decades.   Reading about his life is quite interesting.

In the slides you saw above there was also a Frank Bartleman quote.  He was a Christian writer.  His book Azuza Street (can be found on Amazon) describes the events surrounding the Pentecostal revival. He authored six books, four pamphlets, over five hundred and fifty published articles, and one hundred tracts. Bartleman is best remembered for his chronicles of the 1906 Los Angeles revival.  Of the revival, held in Los Angeles from 1906 to 1909, Bartleman famously wrote, "It seemed that everyone had to go to “Azusa.” ... There were far more white people than colored coming. The “color line” was washed away in the blood."  After the Los Angelas revival and his missionary work (ending with the start of World War 1) he returned to evangelistic street work until his death in 1936. He is buried in Burbank, California, at Valhalla Memorial Park.

His book is the book I would personally recommend reading in your journey of understanding Azuza Street and the pentecostal movement.  That way it will help you not be like so many who in their not understanding say something wasn't God just because they don't understand it.

In my lifetime, I can most confidently say that God moves in mysterious ways and His ways are not our ways.  I've experienced Him in my life in ways that I could have never imagined.  He's touched my life in such a deep way that it stays with me always.  Although I was born long after the Azuza Street Revivals Franks book gives a great description of all that happened there.  To say that what happened there was not God is putting God in a box and I never wanna be guilty of doing that ever.

God is my world.  He is my lifeline.  He's everything that I'm ever gonna wanna or need in this life.  It's my prayer that if you don't feel as I do that one day you will.

God's Timing is Perfect...

A friend shared this and I wanted to share too so I found an adorable picture to put with it as well😉:

An elephant and a dog became pregnant at the same time. Three months later, the dog gave birth to six puppies. Six months after that, she was pregnant again, and nine months later, she gave birth to another dozen puppies. This pattern continued for some time.
Eighteen months later, the dog approached the elephant and asked, "Are you sure you're pregnant? We conceived on the same day. I've already given birth to a dozen puppies three times, and you're still expecting! What's going on?"
The elephant calmly replied, "There's something important I need you to understand. What I carry isn't a puppy; it's an elephant. I only give birth once every two years, but when my baby touches the earth, the world will feel it. When it crosses a street, people will stop and stare in awe. What I carry is powerful and majestic." She continued, "Don't lose faith. When you see others receiving their rewards quickly, don't feel jealous if yours hasn't come yet Don't despair. Instead, remind yourself, 'My time is coming. And when it does, people will be amazed."

MORAL:
God's timing is perfect. Everything comes when it is meant to, never too soon, never too late, but always at the right moment.

A bit of History...

Every American should put this bit of history to memory.

The democrats are the ones that want to enslave the people.  They want total control.  The very thing they harp that the republicans are after is what they are after.  They are yelling it from the rooftops blaming the other party when it's their own party that seeks to destroy our nation from the inside out and turn us into a communist country.   If we keep playing follow the leader with the left that is just what will happen if not worse.  Remember Hitler and the concentration camps.  That will be us if we allow it.

A history that is not taught or remembered is a history that is doomed to repeat itself!

The Best Coaches...

Tim has been blessed to have a coach like this in the sport that he is doing now.  His coaches resolve to help his team be the best they can possibly be in such a positive way has been huge for Tim.  He's had such negative coaches throughout the years and it has been a breath of fresh air to have a coach that really is in his corner and is all about what is best for Tim.  He's not ego/pride driven and that has been such a huge thing for Tim.

Coaches that are consumed with their own ego's, that make decisions about their students/team based on their own pride, are not coaches that you want for your kids or even yourself.  They will break you down and tear you apart just because of their own ego/pride.  You might ask, How do you know?  Because we have lived it with coaches in the other sport that Tim used to do.

The Bible tells us that PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL!  Believe me when I tell you that it might take some time but that fall will happen if you are with a coach that is full of ego and is prideful.  It's unfortunate that the coaches aren't the ones taking the falls but their students/team are the ones that take the falls for their ego/pride.  There's no consistency of winning with a coach of that nature.  They talk a good game but, in the end, being with coaches like that will result in loss over loss for the competitor/student/team.  It results in a mental breakdown of the student/team overall.  The biggest way, that I have seen, of how to know if a coach is falling because of their ego and pride will be by looking at how their students/team are doing overall.  If only a few are winning, and they aren't consistent wins, then the win/loss ratio tells that coaches story.  If there is no positive reinforcement and all you hear is negative coming out of the coaches/team/students mouth that tells the coaches story too.  A competitor/team regurgitates what has been put into them by their coach.  If you go into a sport with your eyes wide open and know what to look for you will know pretty quickly if you should stay or move on before you get too invested into the coach/team your kid or yourself are a part of.  The signs were all there for us and we stayed longer than we ever should have in Tim's old sport.

Now, Tim's the strongest mentally that he's ever been because of his weightlifting coach.  His coach focus's on the positives and not the negatives.  He doesn't dwell on things but presses on.  He's more about the long game and not the short game.  He's doesn't tear his team apart if they go to a Meet and don't bring home medals.  He focus's on how to help them make forward progress so that they can earn a medal at a Meet in the future.  He doesn't dog them about what they've done wrong but praises them for what they're doing right and corrects them with positive reinforcement where needed.  He's great about pulling Tim out of his comfort zone because he sees the version of Tim that Tim can't see yet.

THAT,
MY FRIENDS,
IS A GREAT COACH!!!

Stay Close...

This quote I'm about to share with you is one that we encourage our son to do all the time because it's what his dad and I already do.

When you make this your life practice you will have people close to you that really matter & they will forever be in your life.

My Future Hope....

As Tim graduates high school next year this quote is my hope as he goes out into the world and becomes his own man.  As he makes a life for himself it's my hope and prayer that this will be our relationship.  He is so loved and treasured by his dad and myself and we can only hope and pray that he will continue to love and treasure us as well as he makes a life for himself as he continues to grow into manhood.
