T's New USA Training Outfit...

T loves his new USA training outfit. He wore it tonight during sparring training.  He so enjoys sparring training.  It's his favorite thing to do.  Tonight after they were done he was trying to help a teammate learn a move that Master Wasiu taught him a long time ago.  His teammate wasn't quite getting it but in time he will.

New Office Printer…

Scot did his best to bring our old office printer back to life but it had done all it was going to do for us after 8 long years. It produced a ton of printing for us. Hoping we get equally as many years and prints out of this new office printer if not more.

Drivers Ed...Right of Passage Moment🥰

So this is happening today😱.  Can't believe in May we'll have another driver in the house.  He will have his permit.  Fun times.

Then and Now Pic + Drivers Ed Update + T has his 1st Girlfriend 😱

These pictures of T are from 4 years ago and last week. He has changed so much in 4 years time. He went from my little boy 👦 to young man 👨 just like that 🫰.

And he starts the driving portion of Drivers Ed today. In May on his birthday he will be getting his drivers permit. It’s hard to believe that he’s already almost old enough to be driving. Our world is fixing to majorly change when he gets his license in 2024.

Plus he officially now has his 1st girlfriend. They finally told one another how they feel about each other last night. She also does Taekwondo Sparring. She is just as dedicated to it as T is…LOL! They make the cutest couple 🥰.

They will have their 1st chaperoned date at Kanki (it’s a Japanese Steak House) on Sunday for lunch. It’s one of T’s favorite places to eat at and he knows she’ll like it too because she loves sushi and they have that there😊.

Training Today….

Today was T’s first day back since he hurt his ribs and he’s looking really good. He’s somewhat rusty even though he fought well and won both his matches against his teammates.

Ari made T a Cakie…

She made T a great big one in the shape of a heart but T ate some of it before I could get the pic. The other one with the icing was for Scot and myself. All I can think about is the old country song “She’s in Love With The Boy”…LOL🤣🤣🤣!

Car Update...

We are still waiting to hear from the insurance to get the medical/pain and suffering stuff moving.  So there's no movement on the car front until we can get that going and settled.  We are also trying to put additional funds back so that we can get into a car as soon as possible once everything is finalized.  We are continuing to pray for a settlement from all this that will cover the medical bills + put me into a new car + cover getting us a new trailer to put our carpet cleaning system into.  These are things that need to desperately happen.  Scot can't continue to miss projects because of having to take T to his scheduled stuff or me to scheduled stuff because we are down to one vehicle.  Right now that is what we are dealing with though.  It's frustrating for both of us but we don't have a choice right now.  Neither of us is going to put us into a situation where we are upside down financially so we will continue to deal as long as it takes in order to do what we need to do.  We know that God is our provider and He knows our needs and that everything will be done in His time.  Being patient in the waiting when work has to be missed in order to do stuff that also needs to be done is hard because when Scot is having to take T and I to stuff that is money that is missed but it can't be helped.  We live such busy lives and dealing with one car is going to be for a short period of time in the grand scheme of things and we have to keep telling ourselves that even though it's been difficult.  Everything will work out just the way it is supposed to.  God has got this just like He does everything that concerns us.  I will update you all just as soon as I have something to actually share.  Continue to pray in agreement with us for these needs that we currently have.  Thank you.

Tusah....

Tusah has come out with a new more form fitting uniform that is crazy lightweight and arm and leg guards as well that breath better.  T is so looking forward to getting these and wearing them at tournaments.  If he really likes the arm and leg guards we may need to get two sets.  One to train in and one to wear at tournaments.  He's so excited.  Here's what they will look like.  They are called the EVO edition.

You can wash the outter part and wipe down the inner part so that they don't smell.  That's a huge win!

The uniform has mesh so that it breaths better and the material is a moisture wicking material.  It's designed for advanced movement.  The material stretches for more flexibility.  As much as everyone was hating the idea of a more form fitting uniform they are all seeing the added benefits to having one now and the fighters are all loving them.

To get all this will be a little over $300.00 but these are the new World Taekwondo standard.

At Home Workouts…

Here’s a short video of T working out at home.

Good Luck....

T got Ari this before she went to team trials last week.  It's something she can carry with her always when she goes to events and look at and read to encourage her before she fights.

Commercial Project on Monday...

T helped his dad on a commercial project on Monday and at the end they were waiting on a client to clear out of a room so that they could clean it.  So this is a picture of T chilling on his phone giggling at who knows what....probably something Ari sent him.  It was such a great picture that I wanted to share it here.

Valentine's Day Yesterday...

Sorry that I didn't make a Valentine's Day post.  I normally do but we had a busy day.  T got Ari (I was told to spell her name that way instead of the way I've been spelling it...LOL) an I Love Taekwondo bracelet and she loved it.

Scot’s new Nickname to be Shorty soon…

Check this out. T is almost as tall as his dad.

My New Nickname is “Shorty”🤣🤣🤣

Just took this picture after we got everything loaded back up at a commercial project…LOL!

Praying 🙏…Trailer situation…

I’m sharing this to show everyone how bad the situation is with our trailer that houses our carpet cleaning machine. Scot doesn’t know I’m sharing this. I’m sharing it to ask you to stand in agreement with us in prayer that the settlement that we receive for the pain and suffering portion of the accident I was in will be more than enough to buy a new car and get us into a new trailer for our business. It is vitally important that we have enough from this to take care of both of our immediate needs. Scot is such an awesome provider and after all I’ve been through since just before thanksgiving this needs to happen for us. Thank you for you for prayers 🙏 of agreement.

There is tons more tape on this thing. So 🙏🙏🙏!!!

My Silly Son…

The boy is so silly but look at the stash he’s getting. So not ready for this. My boy is more like a man everyday.

T’s Early Valentine’s Gift…

We always try to go out for a nice dinner as a family and we like to get T a little something. He was wanting a wireless charger and case for his cell phone so we got him that. He is growing up so fast. So many manly changes in him. Our time is short with him before he’s all grown up and we are cherishing every single moment that we can.

This phone case makes it possible for his phone to charge wirelessly with a wireless charger. He loves it.

T’s haircut…

T found him a new barber and he’s so happy. He loved the vibe in the barbershop 💈 and he loved the barber that his Master, Master Doug referred him to. He has himself a new client from now on😊.

Growing Pains…

T is growing like crazy and catching up to his dad.

Team Trials Update…(added update)

T’s buddy Chris lost in round one two days ago for Team Trials but he fights Pan Am Qualifier today (He lost second match). Looking forward to seeing that fight.

Two others that T knows won team spots for Worlds happening later this year.

Arie lost first round yesterday but she was fighting with a hurt foot and she aggravated it more during her fight. She made sacrifices so that she could make weight in order to fight.

Arie getting some grub after weigh in.

This is all we have to share currently.

Made This For Arie for Tomorrows Fight Day....(Updated)

T really liked my making this in Canva for Arie for tomorrow's fight day.  He wanted to give her some encouragement as she fights at Team Trials tomorrow.  It's a pic of T and Arie from the NC Carolina Rumble that one of the moms from our team transformed into an artist rendition.

He made her another one too.  He liked this one better.

Kukkiwon Cup….

T will get to attend the Kukkiwon Cup Tournament this year. It will be his first time attending since his Grand Championship Win in 2017. They had it last year but T couldn't attend because he was at another tournament.  He’s looking forward to being a part of this again. Here are some pictures from the 2017 win. Also here’s a picture of the poster for this years Kukkiwon Cup. I'm not sure if they are running it the same as they have in the past but either way it will be a fun tournament to attend.

Arie Going to Team Trials…

T’s teammate Arie is heading to Team Trials. T decided to not attend this go around even though he got the invite. We are praying 🙏 for a good showing for Arie at this event and we will be cheering her on from home when she fights Saturday😊.   #TeamCORE #FightWin

12 years ago v Now…

12 years ago we were watching the Super Bowl while a 2 year old T was playing in his playroom, which it now his man cave…LOL! He had taken out every toy that he had. You couldn’t even see the floor…LOL!

T’s BMI to Height to Weight Ratio…

Here are T’s current numbers. He’s well within normal range😊.  This is where he will always stay moving forward. In normal range!

WT v USAT v AAU...

World Taekwondo just made a height/weight change for the Cadets that is a really great change. It's safer and healthy for our kids. USA Taekwondo is adhering to it and AAU is NOT!
AAU Taekwondo shared a statement today. I've underlined a line in their statement for you all below but it states, "This rule makes no sense in the natural development of children." This is the statement that I vehemently disagree with and here's why...
In 2021 a week prior to the National events for both AAU and USAT my son was cutting to be in a weight division with kids more his height because fighters a foot taller than him were cutting to the weight division that he should fall into "NATURALLY". He ended up in the hospital trying to adhere to the old weight division rules and it almost cost him his life because he lost all the salt in his body and ended up in ICU. He was trying to make a ridiculous weight bracket just so he could fight kids more his size. So tell me, AAU Taekwondo, how the old weight rules make more sense and are best for these kids? I'll wait!!!
He was a second year Cadet at the time.
In my opinion, World Taekwondo needs to do this for the Junior fighters as well to give the Cadets a place to go when they age up. When fighters reach Senior level they can chose whether they wanna dangerously cut or not because at that point they are adults and can make their own decisions for their life. #usataekwondo #aautaekwondo #worldtaekwondo #worldtaekwondofederation

Here's a video link that gives explanation as to why the height/weight change has happened:  https://youtu.be/vtaAnvts3Xc. Watch it because it will blow your mind.

The change WT is making wasn't a decision that was done on a whim. It has been the better part of four years in the making. Parents/Coaches alike need to use the health calculators available online and put your kids heights and weights into them and see where their BMI falls. I dare say many of you will get quite an education on how unhealthy your kids really are. I wish this rule was already present when my son was a cadet because then he'd never had been in the hospital in the first place from working out so hard that he lost all the salt in his body. People need to wake up and think of their kids health first. I can tell you with certainty that we are. No competition is worth my sons health and I'll never put him or let him put himself at risk ever again!!! At the end of the day it's just not worth it!!!
