The Declaration of Independence was officially adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. However, the formal parchment document was not signed until August 2, 1776.


In Congress, July 4, 1776

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

250 Years of God’s Faithfulness Over Our Nation 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate 250 years of the United States of America—a nation that has been held together not only by courage and sacrifice, but by the mercy and grace of God.

From the very beginning, our history has been marked by prayer, dependence on the Lord, and the belief that true freedom comes from Him. As a nation, we have faced trials, wars, victories, and seasons of uncertainty—but through it all, God has remained faithful.

As we celebrate today with family, friends, and fireworks lighting the sky, may we also pause and remember the One who has sustained this country through every generation.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” – Psalm 33:12

Freedom is a gift—and one that should never be taken lightly. It is something to steward with gratitude, humility, and prayer for the future of our children and grandchildren.

Today we honor those who sacrificed for our liberty, those who serve still, and the God who has carried this nation through 250 years of history.

May we continue to seek Him. May we continue to stand for what is right. And may we never forget the source of our true freedom.

Happy 250th Birthday, America. 🇺🇸
Lord, we ask You to continue to bless and guide the United States of America.

Happy Father's Day...

I know we are in the midst of traveling to Nationals with Tim but I didn't want to let this day go by without making this blog post.

Babe, There are so many things I could say about the kind of father and husband you are, but one thing is certain—you are such a blessing to our family.

Watching you be a dad to Tim over these past 18 years has been one of the greatest joys of my life. From the big milestones to the quiet everyday moments, you have always been there for him with love, wisdom, patience, and support. The way you have guided him, encouraged him, and shown up for him year after year cannot truly be measured.

You are the kind of father every child deserves and the kind of husband every wife prays for. Through every season of life, you have loved us faithfully and sacrificially. Your strength, steadiness, and devotion have helped shape our home into a place of love, security, and encouragement.

As I look at the amazing young man Tim has become, I know so much of that is because of the example you have set before him. He has grown up watching what it means to work hard, love deeply, lead with integrity, and put God and family first.

We are incredibly blessed to have you, and I never want you to doubt how deeply appreciated and loved you are.

Happy Father’s Day to the best dad in the world and the best husband I could ever ask for. We love you more than words can say.



There are so many things I could say about this amazing man who is no longer with us, and somehow words still never feel like enough.

You were the kind of father-in-law every girl hopes to have. In so many ways, you were a better dad to me than my own father ever was. You welcomed me into the family with love, kindness, and acceptance, and from the very beginning, you made me feel like I truly belonged.

You loved your family deeply, and everyone who knew you could see it in the way you showed up for us year after year. You were always there with help, guidance, encouragement, and support whenever any of us needed you. No matter what was going on in life, we knew we could count on you.

You celebrated every milestone, every holiday, every birthday, and every special family moment with us. Your presence brought strength, stability, laughter, and comfort to our family. You were truly the heart of so many of our gatherings.

You were the best patriarch a family could ask for, and your absence is felt more deeply than words can express. There will always be a place in our hearts that only you could fill.

Though Father’s Day looks different now, we still celebrate the incredible man you were and the legacy of love you left behind. We carry your memory with us every single day.

Happy Father’s Day in Heaven, Pop. You are loved, honored, and missed beyond measure.


Losing a parent leaves behind so many emotions, memories, questions, and reflections that seem to grow deeper with time. It’s been 24 years now since you passed away, Dad, and there are still moments when it feels hard to believe how much time has gone by. 

You’ve missed so much over the years—the births of your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including my son, Tim. There are so many moments I wish you could have witnessed and so many memories I wish they could have made with you.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to understand so much more about your life than I did when I was younger. You loved your family the best way you knew how, shaped by the difficult and painful examples you were given growing up. Life was not kind to you in many ways, especially during your childhood, and I can only imagine how deeply those experiences marked your heart and followed you into adulthood.

You didn’t always know how to express love, but looking back now, I can see the ways you tried. Sometimes love is shown imperfectly through broken people carrying wounds no one else can fully see. You worked hard to make sure we had food on the table, clothes to wear, and a home to live in. You carried responsibilities and burdens that I understand far more clearly now than I ever could back then.

None of us are perfect. We all carry pieces of the lives we were raised in, and so much of how we move through life is shaped by the examples we were given growing up. But despite the imperfections, one thing never changed—you were our dad, and all seven of us loved you deeply because of that.

Time has softened some of the harder memories and brought greater understanding in their place. There is grace now where there once may have only been hurt or confusion. And even after all these years, you are still missed by all of us.

In many ways, pieces of you still live on. We see you when we look into the eyes of our children because so many of your grandchildren inherited your eyes. It’s a quiet reminder that even though you are gone, part of you remains woven into the generations that came after you.

Twenty-four years later, you are still remembered, still loved, and still missed. 

I hope and pray that I will get to see you in heaven somedaywhile I'm not certain if you ever made a profession of faith to God, I certainly hope and pray in those last moments of your life that you did.


There are truly not enough words to say about this incredible man—my mentor, my father figure, and one of the greatest blessings God ever placed in my life—John Gordon.

God brought you into my life when I was just 8 years old because He knew I needed someone I could look up to, learn from, and feel safe with. From such a young age, you became the steady, godly influence that helped shape so much of who I am today.

All these years later, the impact you had during my formative years is still influencing my life every single day. The love, support, wisdom, encouragement, and godly example you gave me helped mold me into the person I became. So much of the strength, faith, and perspective I carry through life was shaped by your presence and influence.

You showed me what consistency looked like. You showed me what kindness, faithfulness, and integrity looked like. You were there with guidance when I needed direction, support when life was hard, and encouragement when I doubted myself.

Having a strong and loving male role model like you in my life is something I will never stop being grateful for. The value of that kind of influence on a child cannot truly be measured in words. It changes the course of a life.

You were one of the biggest and best blessings I could have ever had growing up, and I thank God for you more than you will probably ever know.

Some people leave fingerprints on your life that never fade, and you are one of those people for me.

Happy Memorial Day...



Happy Memorial Day...

Today we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and for the freedom we are blessed to enjoy.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for the lives given so that others could live in liberty and peace.

Freedom is never free, and today is a reminder of the true cost behind the life we often take for granted.

Today, we also honor the memory of Ronald Keith Neal, a family member, who died of wounds received on April 7th, 1967, while engaging an enemy unit near the mouth of the Vam Sat River. He lost his life at just 21 years old. He served as a Radioman 3rd Class with two years in the U.S. Navy, arriving in Vietnam and being assigned to Kilo Platoon, Detachment Golf, SEAL Team 1, Task Force 116 (TF-116), U.S. Naval Forces Vietnam. His sacrifice, along with so many others, represents the deep cost of freedom and the bravery of those who answered the call to serve.

Thank you to all who have served, and especially to those who gave everything.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and reflective Memorial Day as we remember the heroes who made it possible.

Valentine's Day Yesterday...

I meant to make a blog yesterday wishing my guys a Happy Valentine's Day. As usual though, our days are always busy ones. There's never enough time in a day to get done everything that we want or need to do.  
We did take our evening to enjoy some chill time together though. And I wanted to make sure to post here what I posted on my social media outlets for my guys. They are my world and I love them to the moon and beyond.

Like I said, "they are my world". Apart from my relationship with God they are everything to me. God is first always and forever then them. But they are the closest of seconds to God😊.  

Scot is God's greatest gift to me. I had surrendered to being single for the rest of my life then God brought Scot into my life in my late 30's. So for all the singles that may read this don't ever think you won't marry because I had thought the same thing then God!

Tim joined us two years into our marriage. He would be the only child we would have. I've always chopped it up to that Tim was my last viable egg...LOL! Of course God knew what he was doing by giving us only one child because Tim had enough energy as a little one for a handful of kids. We put that energy into something positive, TaeKwondo. He did that from age 4 until 15. At age 8 he started doing the elite side of the sport, TaeKwondo fighting. At age 15 though he moved on from that to weightlifting. He just became too short for the sport anymore and he needed a change because the negative coach environment had gotten to be just too much for him and us. Weightlifting was the best change ever! He's soared at it. He now has 6 National Level medals,  will be turning 18 in May & graduating high school in May as well. To say Scot and I are proud parents is an understatement. This mommas heart is so full.

My life is so full and so blessed. Valentine's for us isn't celebrating a "love" holiday one day out of the year but reflecting on all the love that we share all year long. It's what I encourage for you all. Don't make Valentine's Day your one day to show love but show it every single day of the year. I know we do and I'm so glad that we do. We know how much we all mean to one another and even though there are some days we miss the mark and don't act as we should to one another we always come back to the love and remember how much we cherish our lives together. Martin Luther King, Jr Day!

Today marks Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Every year I listen to his "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered on Aug. 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I listen to it because I never want to forget the great Americans who made a difference. Although he made several notable speeches my favorite will always be "I Have A Dream".

(Just an FYI, MLK was just a man. He made mistakes like we all do. Remember that when remembering him. His accomplishments in the civil rights movement outweigh all the areas where he missed the mark.)

Tim's Christmas 2025...

This year was a smaller Christmas for Tim.  He received clothes (compression underwear, sweatpants & a couple of t-shirts).  He also received some knee sleeves and compression pants for training.  He got new earbuds from his family in Kentucky.  They all rallied together and got him the earbuds he's been needing for when he is working out.  He also got a trimmer that he ask for to be able to trim his thick eyebrows and to be able to clean up his unibrow.  His dad and I got him the Galaxy watch that he wanted as well.   All in all he got everything he needed and wanted this Christmas.  It's unfortunate but I didn't get a picture of all the clothes he received.

Merry Christmas🎄


We wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas🎄!

This season reminds us just how much we have to be thankful for. Life gets busy and chaotic, but this time of year calls us to slow down and appreciate the people who mean the most. We never want to take our loved ones for granted. God has been so good to us, and we’re grateful for His faithfulness every single day.

Family is everything. So hug your loved ones a little tighter this Christmas, and make sure they know just how much they mean to you. Tomorrow isn’t promised, but the memories we make today can last a lifetime.

Merry Christmas Eve....


It's Christmas Eve, y'all.  We are starting the day watching Tim open his Christmas gifts so we can enjoy that time as a family with just us.  Then later this afternoon we go to our churches candlelight service and we come home and have dinner.  And this year's dinner is thanks to our friends - The Allen's - because we are getting to have off the boat Italian Raviolis that I helped make at Donna's mom's house a few weeks ago.  It's something we started doing in more recent years because we want Christmas Day to be all about our Saviors birth and time with Family.  The greatest gift we will ever receive in this life is the gift of eternal life in heaven and we wouldn't have that if Jesus hadn't be born & then - many years later - died on a cross for our sins.  

He is the greatest gift of all!!!

Christmas Tree is Finally up...

This is the latest that we have ever put up our Christmas tree.  It's been so busy these past couple of months and I'm glad that we were able to finally get it up.  This year we put only shatterproof ornaments on the tree because we have a Stella and we just aren't sure how she's gonna be with the Christmas tree.  Last year she was a tiny timid kitten and this year she's a full grown active cat.  It will be interesting to see if she does anything more than paw at the low hanging ornaments.
