Roofing Saga...

So the roofers didn’t come back until around 2:45 today from lunch. When they got back they did a tiny bit of work and left around 4pm. As they left this time we watched through our security cams as they packed up all of their equipment which they had been just leaving at the back of our house on days prior.  They left stuff scattered on our lawn and didn’t clean up behind themselves. My front stoop was a mess and I had to sweep it. Nails and water bottles laying around that we had to pick up. Isn’t this stuff the contractors should be doing?  I agree that they should be picking up after themselves. But now we are wondering since they packed all their equipment up will they be coming back???

Ya know this morning the lead guy spent probably 30-45 minutes on the phone and his crew just stood around while he was talking. So of the two hours that they were on property this morning prior to lunch they only did maybe an hour to an hour and 15 minutes of actual work.

When Scot and I need to tackle a project we get on top of it as quickly as possible. I’ll give our deck as an example. We’ve been trying to get our deck fixed. We’ve gotten started on it but we’ve had other things get in the way of our completing it. The weather being the main issue. It rained so much that we’ve been unable to get back to it and when we finally had weather to get back to it we had other things to deal with like a tree that came down in a bad thunderstorm a week or so prior to the hurricane. Then the hurricane come through and took out two more trees. For 7 days (with some afternoon storms) we dealt with nothing but trees and getting it all burned up. Let me tell you that’s some real hard work but we tackled it as fast as possible.  We expect the same from anyone who does work for us. Needless to say these roofers have been far from on the level we are when it comes to getting a job done. There’s lots of folks that they’d still be dealing with the tree damage we had but we got in there and knocked it out quickly.

We were told this roof was a two to three day job. Tomorrow will be day four and all that’s been done is some new facia wood has been put on in the front and back and a little bit of vinyl over some of the facia wood and some of the soffit and that’s all that’s been done. I know the roofers and the company we hired for the job are having issues but that doesn’t make it ok to leave a client hanging like they have us. Tomorrow will be day four. I’m praying the weather holds out and they show up and get some real work done. We’ll see. I’ll have more on the saga update as things develop.

We have been somewhat frustrated because we expect better than what we’ve gotten but we know God knew all this was going to happen before it happened. We know God is in control and we trust in Him for the completion of this roof job even with all that has gone on. We know God has got our back and we are not worried about the outcome because God will take care of it.

School Starts Monday for T

We are getting all geared up for T to start school on Monday with his first all online curriculum. We are going to be using Monarch’s online curriculum this school year. We ordered him a laptop, wireless mouse, and mousepad.

Roofing Saga...

This will be the title of my posts until the roof is done. It really has been a saga. The company we hired and the actual roofers having issues with one another and we, the client, are in the middle dealing with it all. They didn’t arrive until between 10-10:30 this morning and they left about 12:15 for lunch. Seriously!!!  They have been here all of two hours and have only gotten a portion of the front of the house done with the vinyl soffit cover and that’s all they’ve done today but what they have done does look good though.

But to say it has been a nightmare would be an understatement. And it’s all been people issues. We have great faith in the product and are very excited to be getting it put on but dealing with the employee/employer issues have been awful.

So the Saga Continues

This company we hired has issues and aren’t treating their installers with the integrity that they should. As a result it’s been two days of the on-site project manager dealing with the office manager on technicalities and the job not moving forward as quickly as possible. As a business owner can I get mad at the installation guys when they are the ones getting screwed over by the company we hired?  Not really. They came close to walking off the job today because of how they are being treated. When you have a crew doing installs of a product you are selling the last thing you want to do is anger the crew or the people you’ve sold said product to. It has been a whirlwind of a week so far. But we keep getting things for the inconveniences so there’s that.

Roofing Update

The roofing company gave us double our rebate plus new vinyl soffit, metal wrap for the new facia boards, and new gutters for all the miscommunication from them to the roofers for our job.

The project leader onsite is allergic to bees. As you have seen in my earlier post they have ran across a wasps nest taking down the old facia boards. No one got stung dealing with the first be.  They ran across a second one taking off more facia boards and the project leader got stung two maybe three times. He took Benadryl immediately and kept his epipen near by just in case he needed it. Needless to say that needed their work for the day yesterday when that happened.

Not much has gotten done but we are hoping they make great strides today. We have several cans of wasp spray available for today. Praying they come prepared for the wasps today. We were hoping they’d get here before the wasps get too active but that’s not our problem because we told them they could come as early as 6am if they wanted in order to deal with the wasps but they still haven’t arrived.

Here’s a picture of all the product that’s going on the roof.

Also, here’s a before picture of the front and back of our roof.

Wasps, Wasps, and More Wasps

So the roofers got started and took down the gutters and facia wood on the back and front of the house and found wasps. We now know where all the wasps were coming from in the winter months when we’d have warm days and they’d make their way into the house😳.

Roofing

Well the roofers were supposed to start yesterday on our roof but while loading our materials at the warehouse the forklift broke down. So the roofer came by to go over the instructions he has from his boss with us last night to make sure everyone is on the same page so they can get started today and there was miscommunication (in this day in age is that a surprise🙄). So we had to get that all straightened out last night so they can start the job today. They are on their way. Not sure how much they will get done today because they have burned so much daylight already🙄. We told them yesterday to come as early as they wanted to get started. We’ve been up since 7am because they said to us, “Is coming between 6:30-7am ok?”, and we said yes. This is the world in which we live today. People not arriving when they say they will. Most companies in general giving you a window of time that they will come and you having to be available for that entire time frame waiting on them. That is not how we run our company at all. And we’ve surprised a lot of folks not expecting us to be on time too. Crazy world we live in today. Oh well. Time to go burn the remaining 8 logs of wood and the little stuff we have left while I wait for these guys to arrive. I will be so glad to not be smelling like smoke anymore and to have this new roof on😁.

YouTube is Back Up

They reviewed my account and said I wasn’t in violation and let me keep the video of T learning how to use a chainsaw. Woohoo!

YouTube Update

So obviously uploading a video of T learning how to use a chainsaw and him cutting up a tree is in violation of YouTube’s rules and regulations and I had no clue it would be. I’m praying this problem gets fixed soon and I don’t lose all the videos I have stored. So many videos and no way to get them back if they decide to delete my account. I’m so undone right now. I’m figuring they are considering it a child safety issue. Cutting up a tree with his Dad is safer than most everything else he does. I mean he’s a TaeKwonDo Fighter, he rides a dirtbike on a pretty regular basis, and he does all kinds of trampoline tricks. That is more dangerous on any given day than running a chainsaw with your Father instructing and teaching you. If learning a life skill is child endangerment I’m even more concerned about where our world is heading. Seriously don’t understand how that was a violation. He was so safe.  Still shaking my head at what the powers that be deem to be a child safety issue.  Really unreal.

YouTube Problems

I’ve been suspended from YouTube on my main account that has all the videos I’ve ever uploaded on this blog. I still have no clue what I did wrong???  I have emailed them in hopes to get this sorted out quickly but most of my video links on this blog page will not work until I get this resolved. I’m now using another account so that I can continue to upload videos for you all. I’ll let you know when it’s been resolved and what the problem was. Thanks for always continuing to stay in touch with us through this blog. As always I do my best to be above board in all I do so if I accidentally do something that goes against privacy policies, which I’m usually unaware of, I’m quick to fix the problem.  Hoping the link will work again soon for you but until then I’m using another account.
