Team Picture 2019

Master Wasiu and Master Striker with the team. Our coaches worked hard during this training camp to help our team be their absolute best for Nationals. So excited for all of them and looking forward to seeing how they all do at Nationals.

Update on T

After meds off and on all night thru mid morning he no longer is running a fever and is back to his old self. We still feel it was heat exhaustion that caused everything but are so thankful he’s feeling normal again. We’ve been sitting around watching the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies this evening. He’s ate well today too. Rest and pushing fluids have made all the difference. He’s looking forward to being able to train on Tuesday.

Training Yesterday

T didn’t have his best day yesterday with training. His body was burning up when he came off the mat. He looked like he could throw up any moment. I put ice packs on him right away thinking it’s heat exhaustion because he hadn’t drank enough water. I called his doctor and they thought the same thing and I let her know about when I took his temp at around 9 or 10 last night and he had a 103.6 fever. I had given ibuprofen at 5:30 and he has to wait 6 hours to take another doze and even with meds in him it was that high. Anyhow I was advised to take him to the hospital in case he needed IV fluids. It turns out that my pushing fluids from 5:30 up until we went to the hospital late last night that I was able to hydrate him. His electrolytes looked good. The doc did say that she could see from the urine they took that he had been pushing his body and training hard. I didn’t know that you could tell that with just doing urine analysis. Now I know. Anyhow T learned a hard lesson in all this and that’s to drink a ton of water. All he presented with was a headache and fever. No other symptoms. His dad and I still feel all he dealt with came from heat exhaustion because he wasn’t drinking enough water and we know that for a fact because we keep a close eye on his intake verses how much he’s working out. At any rate he’s feeling better today but I’m making him rest and not allowing him to get out of bed except to go to the bathroom. He can’t train until he’s been fever free for 24 hours. So we wait it out. So thankful for all of Donna’s help. We are staying with her while down here this time instead of the extended stay hotel where we normally stay. With what he’s dealing with it’s a godsend to be at her home and not at an extended stay.

BBW’s 122nd Black Belt Testing Cycle (July-December 2019)

And so another black belt testing cycle begins. T is going for his 3 Dan. Graduation won’t be until December though. He’s excited about belting up. #GoingAfterHisGoals #WorkingHard

Endurance Training 6/16/2019

T worked on his forms and did some endurance training all on his own last Sunday afternoon. Here’s of short video clip of some of what he did.

Jeep Driveshaft

Scot’s had to work on the Jeeps driveshaft today. Ordering a new one to put on it but it’s going to be possibly 5 days before we get it so he’s been doing what he can to the old one to limp it along until we get the new one. So thankful for a husband that knows how to work on vehicles. Just to show you how much they’ve changed driveshafts over the years here’s a pic of a driveshaft from his old Jeep (I believe it was a 90’s model) and then the next pic after will be the one out of our 2006 Jeep. The old one you could grease/oil but the new ones sealed pretty good so you can’t do much to it at all.

More Training Camp Pics

Here are some more training camp pics. Some of them are with paddles and some aren’t but they are all drills that they were practicing to hone in on and land them correctly.

Kicking Drills

Here are some pictures of T doing kicking drills. He has so loved being at training camp. He has learned so much in just one year of being on the Carolina Kick’s Soarring Team.

KPNP Training

The team did kicking drills on Bob with the electronic gear. They all got a chance to kick to score so they could see what it takes to score on the KPNP gear. It is harder to score with this gear verses the Daedo gear. T has his fight face on though in this picture.

Here’s a pic to show you how much T is sweating:

Speed and endurance.

Practicing trying to place his arms where they should be to protect himself during kicking drills.
