Verse of the Day...

A blessing was one way of asking for God's divine favor to rest upon others.  The ancient blessing in these verses helps us understand what a blessing was supposed to do.  Its five parts conveyed hope that God would 1) bless and keep them (favor and protect); 2) make His face shine upon them (be pleased); 3) be gracious (merciful and compassionate); 4) turn His face toward them (give His approval); 5) give peace.  When you ask God to bless others or yourself, you are asking Him to do these five things.  The blessing you offer will not only help the one receiving it, it will also demonstrate love, encourage others, and provide a model of caring to others.

Quote of the Day...

Verse of the Day...

God describes some people as being like horses or mules that have to be controlled by bits and bridles.  Rather than letting God guide them step by step, they stubbornly leave God only one option.  If God wants to keep them useful for Him, He must use discipline and punishment.  God longs to guide us with LOVE and WISDOM rather than punishment.  He offers to teach us the BEST way to go.  Accept the advice written in God's Word and don't let your stubbornness keep you from obeying God.

It Seems Like Yesterday...

It seems like yesterday that we lost our families Patriarch.  Tim loved spending time with him every chance that he got.  He's so thankful that he had some really great years with Pop and got to experience Disney World with him.  Some of Tim's best memories are from our visits to them in Florida, during the winter, where we all went to Disney World, Sea World & Lego Land.  One year we all even went to Dolly Wood proceeding Joshton's wedding that was close by.  Tim got some of the best years with his Popsie & Nan.  Popsie was retired and could travel to us for visits.  Popsie and Tim were the best buds.  Tim got to have Popsie and Nan all to himself really because all the other grandkids were grown.  Tim was the last grandkid born before the great grandkids started coming along.

Pop was the best dad to his kids and the best dad-in-law to his kids spouses.  We were all so blessed to have known such an incredible man.  He could fix anything.  His knowledge was beyond his years.  He was a fountain that we all could drink from every time we were facing a fixing challenge.  It didn't matter if it was car related or house related he would be able to tell us what the problem was and how to fix it.  Such a wise man.  We lost all that knowledge to draw from when we lost him last year.  It doesn't seem possible that it's been a year but it has.  His loss is felt every single day.  Family visits aren't the same because his presence isn't there.  He loved the Lord though and we know we will see him again one day.

We love and miss you Pop/Popsie.  You will never be forgotten.  Your legacy lives on in all of us.

Quote of the Day...

Joni Eareckson Tada is a woman is took a dive in a lake and hit her head on the bottom paralyzing her from her upper back down.  She broke her neck.  She learned how to draw art with her mouth.  If you look her up you can read about all of that in more detail + there was a movie done detailing the events that happened to her and it she actually is the star in the movie.  Once you read more and watch her movie this quote will have more meaning for you.

Verse of the Day...

1 Timothy 6:12 (NIV) - "Fight the good fight of faith.  Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

Some think Christianity is a passive religion that advocates waiting for God to act.  But we must have an active faith, obeying God with courage and doing what we know is right.  Don't wait - get going!

Quote of the Day...

TRUTH!!!

Verse of the Day...

The crown of life is like the victory wreath given for winning athletes (1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIV) - "Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.  They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever").  God's crown of life is not glory and honor here on earth, but the reward of eternal life - living with God forever.  The way to be in God's winners' circle is by loving Him and staying faithful even under pressure.

Quote of the Day...

Verse of the Day...

This is Christ's law of forgiveness as taught in the Gospels (Matthew 6:14, 15; 18:35; Mark 11:25).  We also see it in the Lord's Prayer - "Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors."  God does not forgive us because we forgive others, but solely because of His great mercy.  As we come to understand His mercy, however, we will want to be like Him.  Having received forgiveness, we will pass it on to others.  Those who are unwilling to forgive have not become one with Christ, who was willing to forgive even those who crucified Him (Luke23:34).
