Cary Band Day Yesterday

Here are some pics we got of Tristan at Cary Band Day yesterday. So proud of this kid right now!!!  He’s done great with this commitment this year. His precision on the field is so incredibly on point. I am secretly keep hoping he’ll decide to do this again next year but he doesn’t want to at this point. He may switch to concert band. He’s been doing both from what I’ve been told. I do my best to show up and support him when I have knowledge of what he’s doing. I’ve really enjoyed watching him and getting such great shots of him. Don’t know if I’ll be able to do the same for concert band. We’ll see. 

Tristan

I am so incredibly proud of my nephew, Tristan. He has done such an awesome job in the marching band this year. The marching band season is almost over. He has one band day left plus two Christmas parades to do. He will still be doing concert band as well. I’m hoping to get to see his next band concert in December. With all this kid has had to deal with in his young life I’m so proud of the positive he is doing for himself. He’s smart and makes good grades too. I’m looking forward to seeing how he turns all the negatives into positives as he grows into a man. #proudaunt

Nova is my youngest niece. She is Iris’s full blood sister, Tristan’s half sister, and Gina’s daughter. She is adorable. The family situation isn’t an ideal one but she’s is a cutie pie. Kids don’t ask to be born into this world. We make decisions to have them. Sometimes it’s not the best of circumstances, as is the case with these kids, but I continue to pray for them all and do my best to be a positive influence in their lives when I have the opportunity.

USAT Grand Slam Invite

T was unable to do any USAT tournaments this year due to injuries beyond his control. He hasn’t competed in a USAT tournament that counts for anything since prior to the Covid shutdown which was US Open. We were shocked and honored that they would reach out and invite him given the rough year he has had. He is not quite back to competition level sparring yet but is getting there with each training session he’s able to do. While this will not be an event he will attend, for obvious reasons, we are honored they thought of T for this tournament.  We hope and pray that next year ends up being a banner year for him as he competes. 

New Haircut

T’s new haircut. Looks good. Different than what he used to get but still sharp looking. 

Sparring Training

This week T started training with Master Doug at Core Performance TaeKwonDo here locally. He still does training on the weekends with his team and coach in Waxhaw but we needed a solution so T could get training during the week and with his coach Master Wasiu’s permission we sought out help from Master Doug. Now T is back to getting the amount of training he is used to getting and he seems so happy to be back at it. Here’s a pic of T with Master Doug between sparring rounds tonight talking and getting input for his next round. T is a little winded here because his stamina and cardio have to build back up again. So glad to see T getting more happy in his own skin because he’s able to do what he loves more consistently again. 

Leadership Uniform

T is teaching/leading his first class tonight since his leadership training last weekend. He looks so good 😊 in his leadership dobak. So excited for him. 

BBW Leadership Academy Fall 2021

T did BBW’s Leadership Academy this weekend and graduated to Jogyo Instructor status from BuJoGyo (Assistant) Instructor status. Congratulations Timothy 🎉!!!
