Front Door

This is after two coats of paint. It’s currently drying but looks great. It’s giving a fresh new look to the house. Once we put a new storm door on it will look even sharper. Once it’s dry we will decide weather it needs a third coat or not.

My Fighter

T is constantly trying to improve and get better. He’s had a lot of bad habits to have to break from former training before he was with the coaches he’s with now. It’s a constant battle to get new habits formed in him to replace the bad habits. This video is a good moment from his training.

Back Door

Back door got damaged from the water the house took on while we had no gutters and the issues we were having with the roofers and our roof being open to the elements for 7 days. And as with everything so far, we go to replace the door and we have sheet rock fall apart as we were taking the framing off to take the door out. There’s always more challenges to deal with along with trying to get a task done. We are praying there are no more issues to have to deal with. We just keep finding things and that’s frustrating for us. It is also equally frustrating that we can’t feel safe in our own home because of the water damage that happened to it😞.

This first picture is the lower part of the door that crumbled in Scot’s hands as he was taking the framing off. The framing has mold spores building on it so it will have to be replaced.

This picture shows how wet the sheet rock is half way up the door where the frame used to be.  As you know sheet rock holds water and falls apart like you saw in the first picture.

Keep us in your prayers as we deal with the problems that have been popping up from the water damage. Pray in agreement with us. Pray for an expedient and excellent job to be done in repairing all the problems. That our home is restored to what it was before all this damage happened to it. And also pray that with the rains that will be coming in from the hurricane that we have no more leaks coming into our home. Pray for the Lord to give us favor in getting all that needs to be done done. Pray that He works on the hearts of the workers and staff of the company that even if they are meaning to do harm that the Lord will turn it around for our good and His glory. Thank you!

In The Meantime

In the meantime while we wait we are replacing old outside light fixtures that are rusted through. Getting the new back door ready to be installed on the house. Organizing the house some more. And just taking care of odds and ends that need doing around the house. It’s crazy times we’re living in. If not for the pandemic I’d have been hard pressed to be here to help with all of this cause I’d have still been traveling for training/tournaments. At least everything is getting taking care of now though.

I stood on the inside because there was yet another wasp nest. Scot killed it though.

Drip Edge Replacement and Interior Mediation Update

Called this morning to get things lined out for the roofers to come back and replace the drip edge all around the house because it got damaged when the gutter guys had to redo facia wood and wraps that they did wrong. They are still getting things ironed out with the mediation company to get the inside of the house taken care of where water got in. #tryingtobepatient

Internet Issues...

The internet company had an outage in the area this morning. It took us until moments ago to get it back working. T can now get his school work done for the day. #challenges #takingitinstride

My Boy is turning into a Man😢

T doesn’t like when I take these kinds of pictures. Puberty has hit full fledge at our house with him. So many changes. The biggest is his torso and his hip bones. The boy is growing and changing a ton.

Gutters Are On!!!

The gutter crew came and got the gutters and new downspouts on. The machine they use to make the gutters is so cool:

The white material on the reels comes out up at the front of the machine to form a gutter. See below:

Such a cool machine. The new gutters look fantastic as you’ll see in the pics. What was more impress though was that the new downspouts are some much bigger than the old. Take a look:

Now the roofers have to come back out and fix all the drip edges. So we will be waiting for them to come and fix that. Not sure when that will happen. We are also still waiting approval on getting the crew out here to fix that side of the house as well. We are praying that they work with us to get this done and done right and that we don’t have to have our attorney get involved.

Gutter Crew

The gutter crew was here again today. They changed out the facia wood that was wrong. They put on new facia wrap because the other that was put on was wrong. They got all the vinyl soffit buttoned up. Tomorrow they come back and put drip edge where it needs it from getting damaged when they changed the facia wood out.  Then they put the new gutters on. Woohoo🙌!!!

After we get this all completed we may have to look at getting the siding done just so it will match...LOL! Plus we are looking into wrapping the doors and windows. That may be something we can do ourselves except for the high windows. We’ll havta see about that.

Organization

My living room is looking more line a gym everyday. Had to organize the mess. One can only take so much of things just being unorganized and then, if you’re like me, you snap and fix the problem. At least now I know where everything is and T can find it more easily when he needs it.

Gutter Guy Are Here...

So the gutter guys started investigating the facia and the wrap to see how they were going to mount the new vinyl soffit and gutters and found problems of course.  They can’t do what they need to do because the roofers did the facia wood, facia wrap, and drip edge wrong. Now it all has to come back off and done correctly so they can mount the new gutters to our house. Have I said recently that I’ll be so glad when everything having to do with this roof job gets completed and we can move forward lately?!?!  Well I’m saying it now. I so can’t wait for the madness to be over🙄🤦🏻‍♀️.

Cal Fire Facts...

Cal Fire Facts Report from North Carolina’s Weather Authority.

God promised to never destroy the earth by a flood again. That was a covenant he made and put a rainbow in the sky as a sign. Many believe that if the earth were to be destroyed again it would be by fire. There’s nothing that substantiates that. But...

When I see stuff like this news clip I can’t help but think of what judgement may be befalling America because of how more and more everyday we are seeing how America is turning into more of a Sodom and Gomorrah America. America has pushed God away time and again. In bible times there were consequences for that kind of disobedience to God. We serve a living God so if He did that back then why should He be any different now?  He’s a righteous God who wants us to come to a saving knowledge of Him but He’s given us all the right to choose. The choices we make show whose side we are ultimately on. We are either on God’s side or satans. We will either spend eternity in Heaven or an eternity in hell. The Bible tells us to choose this day whom we will serve. I pray as things unfold that people will get their hearts and lives right with God and make a definite choice to follow Him. We are seeing the beginnings of the end unfolding before our eyes with all that has been happening in our world. Time is short. We don’t know the day nor hour in which Christ will return to call all believers home but we do know what signs to be on the lookout for because we have God’s Word to guide us as a road map of sorts. We must abide in Him and seek Him as never before in this day and hour we are living in. To be ready for when He returns.

This article I’m sharing is just one of many things that are happening in America. The list of things that are happening that show the signs of the times is too long to share here. I feel it’s important to take a hard look at what’s happening as a consequence of America’s sins against God. We must confess our sins against God as a Nation and turn our hearts back to him before it’s too late. Even more consequences will come if America doesn’t wake up to the truth and return to God!

Pray Christians like never before for our country. Pray for our leadership. Pray for hearts and lives turning to God. Pray for lives so on fire for God that it changes not only our country but the entire world. Pray and then pray some more. Keep interceding on behalf of those who still need to come to God. Stand in the gap. Have a mind and life so focused on God that others are drawn to God because of the light of God that is in you. Let us draw them in and make a difference by the lives we lead.

Gutter Update

Well we are on day 8 since the roof finally got done and no gutters. Supposedly they will be here to put them on tomorrow. Scot took off today so he could be available for the install because they said the gutter crew would be here today but they didn’t show. So now this is something I will have to deal with tomorrow while Scot is working and I’m not happy about it at all because this is something Scot really needs to be present for but Scot can’t afford not to work because tomorrow he has a full schedule. I am so beyond ready to be done with everything that involves this roof job but yet we wait for approval to get the water damage team in here to fix all the water damage issues🙄. Will post pictures of the new gutters and vinyl soffit as soon as they finally get it done.

Possible Future Dojang Requirements

There is a faceshield being sold on one of the major TaeKwonDo gear sites. This may be a requirement once kids are allowed back into the Dojang. Here’s some pictures of what it looks like with and without the headgear.

We will cross this bridge when/if we have to.

T’s New Face Mask

T got a new facemask for when he is required to wear one. It’s an anime character that T really likes. We do our level best to not wear one if it’s not necessary. Only in stores and for visits to the chiropractor. He’s got a UA (Under Armour) one as well that we got for when he goes to train at the Dojang with his Master, Master Amy, as he gets ready for the AAU Poomsae National event in October.

When he is at the Dojang it’s just him and his master training.

He hates wearing the face masks, as most do, but only wears it when he has to do so. As soon as we leave establishments that require them they come off. Praying for an end to this nonsense soon. I believe most of what we are dealing with at this point is overkill anyhow but we are doing our best to be patient as we wait for things to fully open back up.

Upgraded Bobs Chest Gear

T has beat Bob up so much that the chest gear that was on it got worn out and was tearing apart. So we put another cheat guard on him. It’s newer and should last a long while. It’s a chest guard that T outgrew before he had ever worn it in good. But it will be put to good use now. Bob looks like a real fighter now.

New Back Door

With all we’ve been dealing with on the roof job we’ve had an issue happen with the back door. So while shopping for things we needed for a project we are doing the guy in the door department showed us a replacement backdoor that we could not pass up because it was a $339.00 door for $108.00. That was such a great deal. We needed that blessing with all we’ve been dealing with. This back door we got has the blinds built into the window. Love, love, love it!  So excited to not to be trying to fix the door and getting to replace it with something I’ve really wanted. Pictures to come once we have it installed.

Our To Do List

So on our to do list is finishing the deck, replacing the downstairs toilet because it’s off gassing where the porcelain has worn off on the inside of the toilet bowl over the years (it’s as old as this 1982 built home), and replacing our dryer.

I know I posted about our deck a while back and it’s halfway off and that is on our to do list to get back to. That’s something that I’m actually going to be able to help with if Scot let’s me...LOL!

The downstairs toilet bowl was scrubbed a while ago while it was being cleaned with something that etched it and made it porous. It’s finally gotten an odor that won’t clean away so it’s going to get replaced with a new one that we can be proud to let guests use😁.

We had to replace our washing machine in July and we were hoping to get a while longer with our dryer but it is showing signs of it finally going to RIP. It lasted a little over a month more than the washer did so we have that to be thankful for. They were both 20 year old units so they’ve served their time well. We are still trying to get whatever life it has left in it out of it before biting the bullet of buying a new one though but we are preparing for the replacement.

20 seems to be the crap number this year. 20 year old deck is toast and had to be replaced. 20 year old washer and dryer finally wearing out. 20 year old roof, which actually made it 24 years, had to be replaced. 20 year old ceiling fan wearing out and had to be replaced. More trees came down when the hurricane came through that took us 7 days to deal with that we had to cut up and burn (nothing to do with 20 other than it happening in 2020). Then you have the 2020 pandemic which has totally messed up everyone’s plans for this year🙄.

We take it all in stride though. One thing at a time. It’s just been a lot of stuff at once to deal with. God knew it was going to happen before we did. The blessing in it all is that I’ve been home instead of traveling which has saved us money that we’ve been able to put towards all that has come up. We definitely need to keep up with all that has happened so we can remember for the future. Things wear out and need attention. It’s the nature of being a home owner. Just thankful that we have the wherewithal to be able to deal with a good portion of it on our own without having to hire out for it.

Toilet, Ceiling Fan, and Wall

Upstairs toilet is fixed. We had a small leak coming from it so we decided it was probably time to change out some things that generally need replaced over time and the toilet is all better.

Next up our ceiling fan in the Master decided to die. It was only 20 years old. There’s that number 20 again🙄. We picked up a ceiling fan from Lowe’s and got that changed out.

Now onto our next fix and that’s to patch the hole we had to put in T’s wall in order to check for water damage in the crawl space. We wanted to make sure we didn’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to his room because he is crazy allergic to mold. So now that we know his crawl space is dry we can leave those side walls alone.

Scot has been all on top of it today. I help where I can but most of what needs doing he has to do so I watch until he asks for my help.

I love how quiet the new fan is. The motor was burning out on the old one. Scot and I both have to have air movement at night in order to sleep so that had to be fixed. Plus it’s the ceiling light source for the room as well. I will say this though the new lights on the new ceiling fan are crazy bright.

There’s always something to do around here. I’ve been learning a lot while watching and handing tools to Scot. I did have a chance to put some things together with the ceiling fan so all Scot had to do was take down the old and put up the new😁.

There’s never a dull moment around here. It’s been nice that I’ve been home instead of traveling as much as I was for T’s training with his coach. Things would’ve kept falling by the wayside and there’s no telling what kind of mess we’d be in if I wasn’t able to be here to oversea things while Scot works. It’s why we make such a great team too.

Just so you can have a pic to go with this post. Here’s Tucker’s past time while things are getting done.

His favorite spot. On his pillows by my side of the bed. He is so spoiled.

Water Damage Update

As you know the first roofing crew left our roof open to the elements for 7 days through several rain spells. The house took on water of course.  We’ve had a couple restoration companies come to check out the damage so we can get estimates and get the ball rolling with getting things fixed and buttoned up within our home. We had to cut a hole in T’s side wall to view the crawl space and see if water got in there. Yes, we had to do that to his newly renovated room🙄. They found no water in the crawl space...Praise the Lord!  As far as we could tell insulation is going to have to be replaced above T’s room and our room. They are having to dry out the areas before putting new insulation in. The crawl space behind our bedroom wall which is above our dining room will have to have insulation replaced and everything dried out as well. T’s room is on an end wall of our house. It had nail pops from nails backing out of the Sheetrock when they put the new facia on. What causes that to happen is when the dry wall gets wet it backs the Sheetrock nails back out of the wall. So that Sheetrock and insulation will get replaced as well. And depending on how far the water traveled there could be a possibility, and we are praying not, that they may have to address the end walls below T’s bedroom as well. We are really praying that the water didn’t travel that far though. Of course once they get going on fixing the damage we will probably find out more. Thankful the roofing company is on the hook for this and not our homeowners insurance. All of this because the first contractors had such little respect for our home and didn’t do their due diligence in keeping our home safe from the elements. The second crew though was fantastic. Our home is going to probably be crazy next week again because of this outfit coming in and the gutter guys coming to do their install of the soffit and gutters. Of course the water damage guys actually coming will be dependent upon how quickly we get the approval from the roofing company. Hoping and praying that happens quickly.
