GA This Weekend

T's next tourney is in GA this weekend.  He fights on the 3rd.  Keep him in your prayers as he competes.  Pray that he's focused and that he does well against his opponents.  The big decision of  being able to go to the US TKD Open is hinged on how he does at local tournaments because they are building him up for the main event of the US TKD Open in the January/February time frame.  It's vitally important that he does well at every event he does from this point on.  2019 is going to be a pivotal year for him as a fighter as it's his last year in the youth division.  His coaches are looking for him to go out with a loud bang in 2019.  They are also getting him ready for his first Cadet year in 2020.  Lots of eyes are on these kids because they are our possible 2024 Olympians.  To be the best of the best you must train train train!!!  And that's exactly what we are doing for T right now.  We have him with the right trainers but he has to put in the work and go for it.  We can open the doors but he has to go through them and accomplish his goals. So please keep him in your prayers.  Life is crazy right now but we wouldn't have it any other way.  We love supporting our boy to accomplish his dreams.  Here's a couple of pictures.  The first one is of him training with Master Hama and the second one is a quote that I've shared with T.  He may be only ten years old but to have a goal like the Olympics you have to mature at a young and go for the dream and put in the time and hours.  That's what our boy is doing.  Have a blessed rest of your day.

2018 Carolina AAU TaeKwonDo Open Championship Video

Two Golds and One Silver at GMaster Cann’s AAU Open Championship

T lost two matches and won two matches today. He got Golds for the rounds he won and he got a silver for his Poomsae. It was a good learning day for T.  He's always looking at what needs improvement when he watches his videos back.  We are always proud of every accomplishment.  The focus right now is US TaeKwonDo Open sometime in late January to early February.  This match and the one in GA on the 3rd of November are just warm ups to that event.  Master Wasiu, Master Hama, and Master Salim are all working hard to help him become a better fighter with every training session he does.  We may or may not go to the US TaeKwonDo Open depending on what these Masters think.  T is still very new to the Carolina Kicks Team and he is night and day different from where he was with his last team since coming to Carolina Kicks in late June so we know we've made the right move with where we have him.  He may have to sit this US Open out if they feel he's not ready yet and just train harder and perfect what he is learning.  Everything is a building block to the next with the ultimate goal being the Olympics in 2024.  T really wants to go to the US Open but it all depends on how he's doing between now and time to sign up and go.  We'd much rather put that money into more training if that's what he needs instead of going to the event.  So we'll see how everything comes out in the wash so to speak.

After the Chinese kid kept kicking T in the head last week T was ready for him this week. T fought him really good. He was the last fight video you’ll see on this video. So proud of all this kid is learning and how much better he’s fighting every week.

Training Session with Master Hama Yesterday

Yesterday a lightbulb came on for T. He had a breakthrough in his training that is going to be huge in his future sparring. This video doesn’t show the breakthrough that happened but it does show speed. He is getting faster and stronger. Hopefully next week I can get a video of the breakthrough that happened. I couldn’t this time because I was on the floor holding the paddles while Master Hama worked with T. Next time though I’ll get video. For now enjoy this sidekick speed video.
